KICKOFF –
The ULM soccer team (5-0) will be hitting the road for the first time in two weeks, taking on former Sun Belt opponent Little Rock (0-3-1) on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. in Little Rock. The Warhawks are looking to continue their winning streak, as they beat the McNeese State Cowgirls 2-0 on Thursday afternoon.
SERIES HISTORY –
ULM and Little Rock will meet on the pitch for the first time since 2021. Most recently, the Warhawks lost to the Trojans in Monroe, 0-2. The first meeting was a 1-0 Trojan win in Monroe on Oct. 7, 2007. The Warhawks are looking to end their seven-game losing streak vs. Little Rock, having not beat the Trojans since 2016 in Monroe.Â
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT –
Little Rock is looking to capture their first win of the season in their home opener vs. ULM. The Trojans lost to Arkansas State to open the season, then went on to capture a strong draw, 0-0 at Arizona State. Little Rock then took a pair of losses to Grand Canyon and SMU. The Trojans are currently sixth in the Ohio Valley conference standings. Little Rock's Kaitlin Graeber was listed by the OVC on the Players to Watch List at the start of the season. Last season, the Trojans ended the season 7-5-8, making it to the semifinals of the OVC tournament.
MAKING HISTORY –
The Warhawks have started the season strong, opening with a 5-0 record. ULM has not opened a season 5-0 in program history until the 2024 season. The last undefeated showing of ULM was in 2014, when the Warhawks went 4-0 to open the season before falling to Southeastern Louisiana, 0-4. The 2014 was also the last time the Warhawks left August with an undefeated record.
LAST TIME OUT –
MONROE, La. – After a scoreless first half and a rain delay taking the last minutes of the second, the ULM soccer team is now 5-0 on the season in a 2-0 win over McNeese.Â
The first half was full of fouls for the Warhawks, taking on eight fouls in the first 45 minutes of the match. ULM led in shots 6-2 and corners 4-0, but the Warhawks and the Cowgirls ended the half tied 0-0.
In the 63rd minute, a McNeese foul gave Janne Van Brummelen the opportunity to score the game winner on a penalty kick. This is the senior midfielder's first goal of the season and second of her career.  13 minutes later, another penalty kick was given to ULM, Kai Douglas scoring her fourth goal in five matches. With her second PK of the season, Douglas now ranks fifth all-time in season penalty kicks.
ULM led in shots, 18-2, with Skylar Blaise and Douglas both leading the team with three. The Warhawks also took nine corner kicks, with the Cowgirls taking none.
