LAFAYETTE, La. – The Warhawks (10-2-4, 5-0-4 SBC) concludes the regular season on Wednesday (Oct. 29), traveling to taking on the Ragin' Cajuns (7-5-4, 4-2-3 SBC) at 7 p.m. CT. After a successful season in the Sun Belt so far, ULM looks to finish the season strong.
SCOUTING THE CAJUNS –
The Ragin' Cajuns are currently 7-5-4 on the season with an 4-2-3 conference record. The Cajuns have claimed wins over Old Dominion, Southern Miss and App State in Sun Belt play. Most recently, ULL captured a 8-0 victory at Troy, with freshman Miku Kurihara posting a hat trick. Kurihara has gone on to be awarded Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honors. Carson Glenn leads the Cajuns with 18 points (7g, 4a), claiming Offensive Player of the Week recognition last week. Goalkeeper Natalie Mayes posts a 1.06 goals-against average, also tallying 53 saves and five shutouts.
UNBEATEN STREAK –
The Warhawks hold the Sun Belt's longest active undefeated streak with 12 matches, dating back to the 2-1 win over Little Rock on August 27. They have outscored opponents 24-11 during the run, with 10 of their 24 goals scored by a different player. The Warhawks also remain unbeaten in Sun Belt play.
SERIES VS. RAGIN' CAJUNS –
This is the 25th meeting between the Ragin' Cajuns and the Warhawks, with Lafayette leading the series 15-6-3. The first meeting between the two teams was 2000, a 3-2 Ragin' Cajun win in overtime.  The Warhawks maintain a two-match unbeaten streak, defeating ULL in 2023 and pulling a 1-1 draw last season. ULM also holds a two-match win streak in Lafayette.
SET PIECES –
The Warhawks have been known to capitalize off set pieces this season, with 15 of the team's 32 goals coming off set pieces. ULM also leads the Sun Belt in corner kicks and is ranked 25th nationally, averaging 6.56 per game as they look for more scoring opportunities.
TRAILBLAISER –
Skylar Blaise has continued to lead the Warhawks and currently leads the Warhawks in multiple categories. The senior leads the conference in goals (11), ranking 22nd in the NCAA. She has reached the record books in season goals, season points, career goals and career shots on goal to name a few. Blaise was recognized as Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week on September 23 and again on October 7. She scored her third career brace on October 2 against South Alabama in the 2-2 draw and tallied three points (1g, 1a) against Southern Miss just three days later.
BANKING ON BJARNADOTTIR –
Margret Edda Bjarnadottir may be in her first season with ULM, but is making her mark quickly. With nine assists this season, she is just two away from breaking the season assist record. Her assists also lead the Sun Belt, ranking ninth nationally. She averages 0.56 assists per game, placing her second in the conference and 14th in the NCAA.
LAST TIME OUT –
STATESBORO, Ga. – The ULM soccer team launched a comeback in the final 45 minutes of the contest against Georgia Southern to remain unbeaten in conference play, extending the streak to 12. With two season-first goals from Warhawks, they found the 2-2 draw.
ULM opened up strong on offense, Ines de Lope Casanova notching a shot in the first minute as she and Giulia Francopushed for an early score. A foul in the box by the Eagles brought up a penalty kick for ULM, but the kick was missed and knocked out by the goalkeeper. Georgia Southern was able to keep pace with ULM for the first half, getting a few shots in and preventing the score from the Warhawks. With both teams unable to find a score, the half concluded with a 0-0 draw.
The Eagles kept fighting on the offensive as the second half began, Kendall Wilson converting a shot in the 50th minute for the 1-0 score. ULM continued to fight, Blaise notching a close shot on target, just barely tipped by the keeper. In the 64th minute, Georgia Southern's Meredith Pugh was able to extend the lead to make it a 2-0 score for the home team.
After Margret Edda Bjarnadottir notched a shot on target, Franco got the ball to de Lope Casanova, who scored her first career goal to cut down the lead in the 73rd minute. In the 78th minute, it was Jaden Masters that found the tying score with her first goal of the season. The goal was assisted by de Lope Casanova, who picked up her fourth of the season for a three-point game. While fouls gave ULM opportunities in the form of set pieces, the Warhawks were unable to convert. Georgia Southern also battled, but goalkeeper Jen Handy collected a season-high five saves to maintain the draw.
