SAN MARCOS, Texas – The ULM women's basketball team (5-5, 0-1 Sun Belt) are prepared to face Texas State (4-6, 1-0 Sun Belt) in their final game of the calendar year. Tip-off at Strahan Arena is scheduled for noon CT on Saturday (Dec. 20). The Warhawks are coming off a 79-58 loss in their conference opener at Arkansas State.

SERIES HISTORY –

ULM and Texas State are set to meet for the 69th time in their histories with the series tied at 34-34. The teams split a pair of regular season meetings last season with the road team winning each time.  The Bobcats hold a 19-15 advantage in San Marcos, but the Warhawks were victorious in their last trip by a score of 74-66 back in January. That win snapped a five-game losing streak at Texas State for ULM.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS–

Texas State enter this weekend at 4-6 overall and are coming off of a 62-55 win at home in their conference opener against the Ragin' Cajuns. The Bobcats are led in scoring by sophomore guard Saniya Burks (16.7 PPG) while sophomore forward Kyra Anderson averages 10.1 PPG and a team high 8.3 rebounds per game. Both players also contribute to a defense that is fourth in the conference allowing 61.4 PPG and is inside the top-60 in the nation forcing 20.7 turnovers per game.

OPENING ON THE ROAD –

ULM began Sun Belt Conference play on the road this week for the ninth time in program history dating back to when the Warhawks first entered the league in 2006. ULM have come up short in their last six conference games on the road and are looking for their first conference road win since the last time they were in San Marcos when they beat the Bobcats 74-66 back in January.Â

OUTSTANDING ON THE OFFENSIVE GLASS –

The Warhawks completed their game at Indiana with a sizable 19-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was ULM's second-best output on the offensive glass of the season-behind their 23 offensive rebounds at Sam Houston–but it was their largest discrepancy in offensive rebounding margin since their matchup with Champion Christian in 2022 (23-4). The last time the Warhawks held an opponent to one offensive rebound was against UT Arlington in 2021. ULM are top five in the Sun Belt and top 60 in the nation in offensive rebounding, averaging 14.4 offensive rebounds per game.

FREQUENTLY FORCING TURNOVERS –

ULM have been proficient this season when it comes to causing their opponents to make mistakes. The Warhawks are ranked inside the top-80 in all of Division I with 19.9 turnovers forced per game. ULM have seen three different players establish career highs for steals in a game this year. Graduate student

Asia Barclay notched five steals at Alabama. As a team, the Warhawks are inside the top 100 teams in Division I averaging 9.9 steals per game and have seen five players record at least one game of three or more steals so far this season.

RELENTLESS REBOUNDING –

 Marcavia Shavers has continued her excellent career on the glass over the last few games. The Biloxi, Miss. native has pulled down six or more rebounds in six straight games, including a season high of 12 vs. Lamar and Mississippi State. Shavers now has six games of double-digit rebounds for her career which includes a high of 20 at St. Bonaventure during her time with Saint Louis.

JACKSON WITH 25 –

 Jazmine Jackson put on a show in the win against Lamar on November 23, becoming the first ULM player this season to break the 20-point mark. The Jacksonville, Fla. native scored a career-high 25 points including hitting five-of-six attempts from beyond the arc. Jackson also put in work on the glass as she finished with four rebounds. The 25 points also moved Jackson into the lead for best single-game total by a Warhawk this season.

MEMORABLE MILESTONES –

 Asjah Inniss achieved a pair of impressive career benchmarks vs. Grambling State. On a three-point shot late in the second quarter, Inniss would record her 500th career point in what was her 100th career game. Inniss became the fourth player on the Warhawks to reach 500 career points.
 Katelyn Chomko also reached a career milestone in style as her final three-pointer vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff brought her to an even 100 points for her career
. J'Mani Ingram (800) and
 Nakiyah Mays-Prince (600) each passed important scoring marks for their careers at Mississippi State.
