Warhawks open 2026 at home vs. the Jaguars.

MONROE, La. – The ULM women's basketball team (5-6, 0-2 Sun Belt) return home to open 2026 as they take on South Alabama (7-5, 0-2 Sun Belt). Tip-off at Fant-Ewing Coliseum is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. CT on Thursday (Jan. 1). The Warhawks are coming off a 79-69 loss at Texas State back on Dec. 20.

SERIES HISTORY –

ULM and South Alabama are set to meet for the 37th time in their histories with the Jaguars holding a 23-13 advantage. The teams split a pair of regular season meetings last season with the home team winning each time. The Warhawks are 7-10 at home vs. the Jaguars and have won the last three matchups inside Fant-Ewing Coliseum after winning last year 78-70. The last three meetings overall between the two programs have been decided by eight points or fewer.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS–

South Alabama enter Thursday's matchup with an overall record of 7-5 but they also went 0-2 on the road to begin conference play. The Jaguars are led by graduate student Cordasia Harris who leads the team in points per game (14.1), rebounds per game (9.3) and blocks (23). As a team, South Alabama have excelled from beyond the arc as they are 16th in the nation shooting 38 percent from three-point range. They have also been active on the offensive glass as they sit inside the top-40 teams in DI averaging 15.3 offensive rebounds per game.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME –

ULM return to Fant-Ewing Coliseum for the first time since their 62-47 win over Lamar back on Nov. 23. The Warhawks are 5-0 at home this season and have won their last seven games overall at home dating back to last year. ULM are seeking their third straight winning record at home in Sun Belt Conference play having gone 5-4 in each of the past two seasons. The Warhawks are also looking to start their home conference slate with a win for the second straight season after defeating Georgia State 83-67 last year.

LEADING THE WAY –

ULM feature a balanced scoring attack as five different players average at least 7.5 points per game. J'Mani Ingram leads the team averaging 10.5 points per game, followed by Asjah Inniss (8.3), Jazmine Jackson (8.1), Marcavia Shavers (7.6) and Keshunti Nichols (7.5). Marcavia Shavers averages 6.5 rebounds per game to lead the team while Nakiyah Mays-Prince has posted a team-best average of 3.5 assists per game. Asjah Inniss leads the team in steals with 20 while Asia Barclay has paced the team with six blocks this season. Jazmine Jackson remains the team's top three-point threat as she has connected on 20 of her 41 three-point attempts.

OUTSTANDING ON THE OFFENSIVE GLASS –

The Warhawks completed their game at Indiana with a sizable 19-1 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was ULM's second-best output on the offensive glass of the season-behind their 23 offensive rebounds at Sam Houston–but it was their largest discrepancy in offensive rebounding margin since their matchup with Champion Christian in 2022 (23-4). The last time the Warhawks held an opponent to one offensive rebound was against UT Arlington in 2021. ULM are top five in the Sun Belt and are ranked 60th in the nation in offensive rebounding, averaging 14.4 offensive rebounds per game.

FREQUENTLY FORCING TURNOVERS –

ULM have been proficient this season when it comes to causing their opponents to make mistakes. The Warhawks are ranked inside the top-65 in all of Division I with 20.4 turnovers forced per game. ULM have seen three different players establish career highs for steals in a game this year. Graduate student Keshunti Nichols recorded four steals vs. Louisiana Tech, junior Kamille Brown posted five steals vs. Grambling State and graduate student Asia Barclay notched five steals at Alabama. As a team, the Warhawks are inside the top-90 teams in Division I averaging 10 steals per game and have seen five players record at least one game of three or more steals so far this season.

RELENTLESS REBOUNDING –

Graduate student Marcavia Shavers has continued her excellent career on the glass this season for ULM. The Biloxi, Miss. native has pulled down six or more rebounds in all but three games this year, including a season high of 12 vs. Lamar and Mississippi State. Shavers now has six games of double-digit rebounds for her career which includes a high of 20 at St. Bonaventure during her time with Saint Louis.

JACKSON FROM THREE –

Redshirt junior Jazmine Jackson has established herself as the top threat from beyond the arc for the Warhawks. Jackson recorded her third game of the season with five three-pointers last time out at Texas State as she finished the game with a team high 17 points. The Jacksonville, Fla. native also accomplished this feat in the win against Lamar on November 23 when she scored a career-high 25 points including hitting five-of-six attempts from beyond the arc. Jackson became the first ULM player this season to break the 20-point mark which moved her into the lead for best single-game total by a Warhawk this season.

MEMORABLE MILESTONES –

Graduate student Asjah Inniss achieved a pair of impressive career benchmarks vs. Grambling State. On a three-point shot late in the second quarter, Inniss would record her 500th career point in what was her 100th career game. Inniss became the fourth player on the Warhawks to reach 500 career points. Katelyn Chomko also reached a career milestone in style as her final three-pointer vs. Arkansas-Pine Bluff brought her to an even 100 points for her career. J'Mani Ingram (800) and Nakiyah Mays-Prince (600) each passed important scoring marks for their careers at Mississippi State.

UP NEXT –

The Warhawks will remain at home as they prepare for their second matchup of the season with Arkansas State (Jan. 3). Tipoff against the Red Wolves is scheduled for noon CT on Saturday.
