Lance Carr Signs with ULM Men’s Basketball

The freshman transfers to ULM from UAB, continuing his parents’ legacy.

MONROE, La. – Lance Carr, son of ULM basketball alums Larry Carr and Cassandra Barker, has transferred to ULM, as announced by head coach Ryan Cross.

Carr spent his freshman season at UAB, making an appearance in seven games. He tallied five total points in 18 minutes of action. Carr played four seasons at Kimball HS, one of the top 4A teams in Texas. He garnered First Team All-District and Academic All-District honors his junior year, averaging 12.3 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks.

"As a former student-athlete at University of Louisiana at Monroe—back when it was NLU—this moment is incredibly full circle for me," said Carr's mother, Cassandra Barker. "ULM helped shape who I am, both on and off the court, and to now see Lance step into that same space with the opportunity to grow, lead and help rebuild something meaningful is powerful. He understands the legacy, but more importantly, he's ready to create his own. I am proud of the young man he's becoming and excited for what's ahead for him and the men's basketball program."

Cassandra Barker was a part of the–then NLU–women's basketball program from 1989 to 1993. She currently holds multiple slots in the season and all-time program records. Barker totaled 184 blocks in her career to place second all-time, her 1.9 blocks average ranking third. In the 1992-93 season, Barker collected 79 blocks to claim the season blocks record, only broken by Emma Merriweather in 2023.

"ULM and Monroe always felt like home for me, and being inducted into the Hall of Fame was one of the greatest honors of my life," said Carr's father, Larry Carr. "To now be able to watch my son continue that legacy means everything. Lance has the work ethic, the mindset and the heart to make a real impact. This is more than just basketball—it's about pride, tradition and helping bring the program back to where it belongs."

Larry Carr spent two seasons at Northeast (1993-95), dropping 175 three-pointers to sit at seventh all-time in the record books. Carr's .419 three-point percentage ranks fourth as he averaged 17.8 points per game in his time.
