MONROE, La. – The ULM soccer team (2-3-1) returns home to host the Stephen F. Austin Jacks (1-4), taking on the Jacks at 7 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 3). The Warhawks look to remain unbeaten at Brown Stadium this season.

SCOUTING THE JACKS –
SFA is 1-4 in 2026, claiming a victory in the season opener vs. Sul Ross State. The Jacks have faced difficult opponents in Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Arkansas State and Louisiana Tech in nonconference competition. Alyce Chappelle leads the Jacks with five points (2g, 1a) under her belt, while keeper Brandie Musser holds things down in goal with over 300 minutes of action and five starts. SFA was pegged to finish fifth in the SLC Preseason Poll.
SERIES HISTORY VS. SFA –
This is the 16th meeting between the Jacks and the Warhawks, facing SFA for the first time since 2015. A former Southland Conference opponent, the teams competed in league play 12 times, beginning in ULM Soccer's first season in 1999. The Jacks hold a 9-3-3 edge against ULM, with a three-match victory streak heading into Thursday. The Warhawks have not defeated SFA since 2004, a neutral site victory in the Southland Conference Tournament.
LAST TIME OUT –
The ULM Warhawks dropped a road contest at SEC opponent Ole Miss in Oxford. The Rebels posted 22 shots to ULM's eight through 90 minutes of play.

Ole Miss controlled possession in the early minutes of the contest, indicative of the match offensively. A few corner kicks and shots for the Rebels had them knocking on the door, but the Warhawk defense kept them at bay. While ULM recorded some shots, Ole Miss continued to drive the offense, a free kick allowing for Becca Skinner to score in the 19th minute. After several shots on target and attempts at another goal, it was Teaghan Irvin who found the back of the net in the 42nd minute to give Ole Miss the 2-0 edge heading into the half.

Jen Handy opened the second half, as the Warhawks looked for a scoring opportunity. As shots continued to fly to Handy, the keeper prevented a score in the final 45 minutes of the contest. Fouls by the visitors and corner kicks also gave free kick opportunities to the Rebels as well. In the final 10 minutes, the Warhawks picked up four corner kicks and a handful of shots to try for a score. But the chances were thwarted by the Rebels as they snagged the 2-0 victory.
BRACE FOR IMPACT –
Three ULM players have logged braces just in the month of August, each of them being the first career braces for the players. Against Alcorn, first-year
Charli Harris claimed the first brace of the season. Just a week later vs. Jackson State, two second-years in Jade Bowé and
Amy Sharkey logged their first career braces. Three braces have been recorded by the Warhawks in each of the last four seasons, crossing four in 2021.
FIRST-YEAR FIRE –
Victoria Vinals opened the season with a goal in the 80th minute at Little Rock. Vinals is the first first-year player to open the season's scoring since 2018.
Charli Harris then followed with a brace against Alcorn, making her the first first-year since 2022 to record a multi-goal game, the lone first-year in the Sun Belt with multiple goals in the opening week of competition. Harris followed the week with her first career assist against Jackson State.
#1 IN GOAL –
Jen Handy returns for a third season in goal for the Warhawks after earning the starting role in her first. Named to the All-Sun Belt Second Team in 2025, Handy currently holds multiple ULM records, including shutouts in a season (7, 2024). In her career, her 1.33 goals-against average ranks second all-time, as well as her wins (21) and shutouts (12). Five more shutouts in her career would hand her the single-season and all-time record.
LOOKING AHEAD –
The Warhawks will remain at home for the weekend, hosting the UAB Blazers on Sunday (Sept. 6). Kickoff against UAB will be at 1 p.m. in Brown Stadium.
