LITTLE ROCK - UALR
scored
twice in the seventh inning to rally past ULM 7-6 Saturday afternoon in
game
two of a Sun Belt Conference series at Gary Hogan Field. Jake Rowell led
off
the decisive seventh inning with a solo home run and Landis Wilson
plated the
game-winner with a squeeze bunt following a double and a grounder.
ULM out-hit UALR
14-11 led by
a 3-for-4 performance by Shane Ardoin. Caleb Clowers, Jarrett Hammond
and Casey
Auttonberry each had two hits and all nine Warhawk starters finished the
game with a hit. Casey
McCollum led UALR (26-23, 9-15 Sun Belt) with three hits in the game
while
Rowell and Brock Feldmann added a pair each.
The Warhawks
(17-33, 7-19) took
a 6-5 lead in the third inning after Smith and Hammond got the frame rolling
with
back-to-back one-out singles. Smith, who was in motion on Hammond's
single,
scored on the third of a season-high four errors by UALR to tie the game
at 5-5. Auttonberry scored Hammond with the first sacrifice fly of his career to put the
Warhawks in
front for the third time of the day.
Nick Wade put the
Warhawks on
the board in the top of the first inning with a single between short and
third
to plate Clowers, who led off the game with a single.
UALR's first three
batters of
the game reached base on a double, a bunt single and a walk. The first
run
crossed on a grounder to second and then Nate Brown brought home two
more with
a two-out double down the line in right field.
The Warhawks
regained the lead
with three runs of their own in the top of the second. Auttonberry, Josh
Chappell and Ardoin loaded the bases with consecutive one-out singles
off UALR
starter Daniel Golden. Auttonberry scored on a wild pitch and Chappell
tied the
game when he scored on a grounder by Clowers. Edwards put the Warhawks
on top
4-3 with a double to right to score Ardoin.
Tommie Johnson
quickly put the
Trojans back in the lead with his first home run of the season - a
two-run shot
- in the bottom of the second.
Golden took a
no-decision in
the contest despite allowing six runs - five earned - on 11 hits in 5
1/3
innings of work. Travis Henke (3-3) worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings to
pick up
the win for the Trojans and JR Boling tossed a perfect ninth for his
seventh
save of the season.
James Jones (3-7)
took the
loss for the Warhawks after allowing seven runs on 11 hits over 6 1/3
innings
of work. After struggling through the first two innings, the
right-hander
allowed just two hits and struck out six over an 18-batter stretch that
spanned five
innings.

Trojans will
