MONROE, La. – Putting up big numbers on the grass, Calum Hill from men's golf and Jenna Pillon from soccer were named Warhawk Male and Female of the Week winners, respectively, announced Tuesday.
Hill was phenomenal in his performance at the Sam Hill Intercollegiate. He helped ULM finish above conference foes South Alabama, UALR, Arkansas State, as well as local rival Louisiana Tech and the SEC's Mississippi State with a score of 3-over par (855) in three rounds of action.
The Edinburgh, Scotland native was consistent throughout all three rounds, finishing with a 208 overall score, five strokes under par (-5). After shooting 69 (-2) and 70 (-1) in the first two rounds, Hill carded a 69 (-2) on the final day to secure a spot inside the top-five individual leaderboard of a stacked 15-team field.
Hill and the Warhawks will be back on the greens on Monday with they travel to Simpsonvile, Ky., for the Cardinal Intercollegiate.
Pillon paced the Warhawks offensively on the weekend, leading the team in shots in both victories as ULM swept its home weekend against Mississippi Valley State and Central Arkansas. Pillon scored twice in the 3-1 victory over MVSU. She got it started in the 23rd minute in the middle of the box after a cross from sophomore Whitney Tuckfield. Pillon fired for the upper left corner to put ULM ahead, 1-0.
She was back at it in the 55th minute after cleaning up a rebound on a shot from junior Karlea Fehr. It was the second game-winning goal of the year for Pillon and her seventh overall.
Against the Sugar Bears, Pillon again propelled the offense with a game-high five shots including four on goal in the 1-0 win. ULM enters SBC play on a two-game winning streak and three-game unbeaten streak. It hosts Georgia Southern at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the ULM Soccer Complex.
