MONROE, La. – Big performances on the field earned Rashon Ceaser from the ULM football squad and Mariah Mitchell from the soccer program Warhawk Male and Female of the Week honors, respectively, announced Tuesday.
Ceaser hauled in a career-best 13 catches and went over the 150 yard mark for the first time in his career as he tallied 153 receiving yards. He also tied a career high with two touchdown receptions in the contest against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in Athens, Ga.
His 13 grabs are tied for third in ULM single-game history and it marks the second time in the Warhawks' last three games that a player had 13 receptions (Kenzee Jackson, 13, at New Mexico State, Nov. 22, 2014).
Ceaser's 13 catches pushed his career total to 175 and he now ranks sixth in ULM history. His 153 yards increased his career total to 2,251 as he moved from eighth to fifth in program history.
In addition to his Warhawk of the Week Honors, Ceaser was named the Sun Belt Conference's Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week as well as College Sports Madness Sun Belt Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Mitchell scored in both of ULM's games over the weekend. The senior got it started on Friday with the equalizer against Northwestern State. The Warhawks trailed 1-0 when Mitchell knotted it up in the 78th minute with a bullet shot from the top of the penalty box into the lower right corner. ULM went on to win in overtime, 2-1.
On Sunday against Southeastern Louisiana, Mitchell again tied the game in the second half. The goal came in the 58th minute after a cross from junior Whitney Tuckfield found Mitchell open in the center in the box and she rifled one past the keeper. The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
The Corona, Calif., native moved into the team lead with three goals on the year. Of her 12 shots this season, seven of them have been on goal.
It marked the second career Warhawk of the Week award for Mitchell after she previously won on Sept. 14, 2013.
