ULM Records 24 Top-10 Finishes at Louisiana Classics Saturday

LAFAYETTE, La. – The ULM track and field team garnered 24 Top-10 finishes in the second day of the Louisiana Classics, and a total of 33 over the two-day event, which concluded on Saturday, March 16 at Louisiana Lafayette. A first-place finish by Eric Hawkins in the men's 800-meter run highlighted Saturday's Top-10 performances.
 
Hawkins stood atop the podium in the 800-meter run after crossing the line in a time of 1:55.19. He was one of four Warhawks to finish among the Top-3 performers along with Sam Healy (long jump), Levaughn Battick (110-meter hurdles) and Jasmine Scott-Kilgo (long jump).
 
Healy leaped his way to a second-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 24-1 1/2 (7.35 meters), closing four spots in front of teammate Colm Bourke's mark of 23-5 1/4 (7.14m). Battick streaked his way down the track in a time of 14.58 in the 110-meter hurdles, good for third.
 
Kilgo became the top women's performer for the Warhawks, claiming third in the long jump by posting a mark of 18-0 1/4 (5.49m), while Rebekka Schubert placed fourth in the event with a distance of 17-8 (5.38m).
 
The other Top-3 performance came from the ULM men's 4x200 meter relay team, which produced a time of 3:14.17 to finish in second.
 
Elias Keter snagged fourth place in the men's 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:09.03. Micaiah Dendy made her presence felt in the women's triple jump, finishing fourth with a leap of 39-0 1/2 (11.90m).
 
Micah Dye also came through with a fourth-place performance in shot put, following a heave of 51-5 1/2 (15.68m). It was one of two Top-5 finishes on the day for Dye, who took fifth in the discus with a toss of 153-6 (46.79m).
 
Ray Dixon recorded two Top-10 finishes, placing sixth in the shot put 45-10 3/4 (13.99m) and seventh in the discus 140-4 (42.79m).
 
Alivia Busch (136-2 / 41.51m) and Brianna Sam (131-5 / 40.07m) capped off the women's discus event by finishing fourth and seventh, respectively. Busch also took seventh in the shot put (40-10 1/4 / 12.45m), one spot and 8 3/4 inches shy of teammate Jadyn Walden's sixth-place mark (41-7 / 12.67) in the event.
 
Sharon Jerono was the top performer in the women's 800-meter run, finishing seventh in the race with a time of 2:21.84.
 
Scott-Kilgo (14.77) and Ava Paul (14.90) closed out the women's 100-meter hurdle events in seventh and 10th, respectively.
 
Cole Burgess managed to clear 14-2 1/2 (4.33m) in the men's pole vault to take home ninth in the event.
 
Three ULM relay teams recorded Top-10 times, including the women's 4x400 which finished fourth with a mark of 3:54.95. The women's 4x100 grabbed fifth (49.46) while the men's unit placed sixth in the same race in a time of 42.72.
 
ULM returns to action March 22-23 at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays in Starkville, Mississippi.
