The Basics
ULM softball is set for its home opener on Wednesday (Feb. 14) and will play a doubleheader versus Alcorn State. Game one is set to begin at 4 p.m. and game two will start at 6 p.m. from the ULM Softball Complex.
 
About the Warhawks
The Warhawks started the 2024 season at the Mardi Gras Mambo in Youngsville, Louisiana last weekend and went 3-2. ULM defeated Providence, Green Bay and North Dakota and dropped games to Montana and UT Arlington.

The Warhawks hit .295 over the weekend and totaled five extra-base hits. Both Lourdes Bacon and Carys Platt racked up seven hits in 15 at-bats and lead the team with a .467 batting average. Bacon, Andie Edwards and Elle Carter led ULM with three RBIs apiece.

In the circle, Victoria Abrams and Maddie Nichols both began the season with dominant starts. Abrams tossed a perfect game versus Green Bay on Saturday and struck out four batters in her performance. The LSU transfer enters Wednesday's doubleheader with a 0.51 ERA and eight strikeouts on the season. Nichols, a sophmore from West Monroe, has completed 13.1 innings of work and has posted an ERA of 1.05.
 
Scouting Alcorn State
The Braves participated in the River City Classic in Jackson, Mississippi to open the 2024 season and went 2-1. Alcorn State earned wins versus Arlington Baptist and Xavier University of Louisiana and lost to Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Through the first weekend of competition, Kristian Edwards leads the Braves with a .400 batting average. Hannah Miller and Genise Wells both drove in three runs in the Braves' first three games. Kiri Parker threw 6.2 scoreless innings and struck out five while Olivia Miller completed 6.0 innings of work and allowed just one run.
