Tennis Preview: Alcorn State

The Warhawks are looking to bounce back at home after a 0-7 loss on the road.

MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team (1-1) looks to bounce back as they host Alcorn State (3-6) on Friday (Feb. 14) at Noon at Heard Stadium. The Warhawks aim to recover after a tough 0-7 loss to Stephen F. Austin on the road.

In their previous match, ULM struggled to gain momentum, falling in straight sets across both singles and doubles play. The doubles teams of Hatem/Iordanova and Jorrin/Cado were defeated 0-6 and 1-6, respectively, while the Alvaro/Krnjic duo lost 2-5 and had their second match go unfinished. The Warhawks were unable to claim a set in singles competition.
Alcorn State enters the matchup after a 1-6 loss to Jackson State, where their lone point came from a hard-fought win on Court 3. The Lady Braves will be looking to turn things around against ULM, hoping to capitalize on their strengths in singles play.

The Warhawks are on a 16-game win streak over the Braves, a streak that dates back to 2004. The most recent matchup was March 6, 2021, in which ULM claimed the 7-0 win over Alcorn State at Heard Stadium. ULM has not allowed a point from the Braves since 2011, a 6-1 win in Monroe.

Following their home match against Alcorn State, the Warhawks will travel down I-20 to take on Louisiana Tech in a rescheduled match on Tuesday (Feb. 18) at Noon in Ruston, La.
