Men's Basketball Preview: Arkansas State

ULM's regular season finale will be played at home versus Arkansas State tomorrow night.

TIP-OFF

The ULM men's basketball team (7-23, 3-14) play its regular season finale with a senior night matchup with Arkansas State on Friday night at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. Before the game, ULM will recognize three seniors: AD Diedhiou, Tyreese Watson and Coltie Young.

ULM's loss to James Madison on Tuesday set ULM's conference record to 3-14. The Warhawks enter Friday 14th in Sun Belt standings, failing behind Coastal Carolina via tiebreaker. 

SERIES HISTORY –

Arkansas State holds a 48-33 overall series record, winning four of the past six matchups. The Red Wolves took the first matchup of the season in Jonesboro last week with a decisive 95-70 win. 

SCOUTING THE RED WOLVES –

Arkansas State has won two in a row, including an 83-64 win over the Ragin' Cajuns on Wednesday. It currently sits at second place in the Sun Belt Standings, trailing first place James Maidson by one game. 

Leading in scoring for the Red Wolves is senior Taryn Todd, who averages 15 points per game and also has rebounds per game. Izaiyah Nelson leads the team in rebounds with 8.2 total rebounds per game.

RICHARD TO COACH FINAL GAME INSIDE FANT-EWING COLISEUM FRIDAY–

ULM men's basketball coach Keith Richard announced his intention to retire at the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. Richard will complete his 15th season as the head coach of ULM men's basketball and will coach in his final game at Fant-Ewing Coliseum on Friday night. A former ULM student-athlete, assistant coach and graduate assistant, Richard inherited a program saddled with APR sanctions and guided the Warhawks to four postseason appearances in five years. Richard previously served as the head coach of Louisiana Tech from 1998-2007 and was an assistant at LSU from 2008-10 before being named ULM's head coach and has accumulated over 300 victories as a head coach.

2025 SENIORS CAREER-HIGH PERFORMANCES –

All three seniors being recognized before Friday night's game have set career scoring marks during the 2025 season. AD Diedhiou scored a career-high 16 points and Coltie Young scored a career-best 28 points in ULM's win versus UAPB while Tyreese Watson turned in a career-high 26 points versus JMU on Tuesday night.

The Warhawks begin play ay the Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Pennsecola, Fla. on Tuesday, March 4.
