MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team (3-8, 0-5 Sun Belt) continues its homestand this weekend, hosting Marshall (13-4, 2-3 Sun Belt) on Friday (March 28) and App State (10-5, 3-2 Sun Belt) on Sunday (March 30) at Heard Stadium. The Warhawks are looking to bounce back after a tough 4-0 loss to Coastal Carolina last Sunday (March 23). ULM battled in singles play, with Camila Molina Barranco and Mariia Iordanova winning their first sets before their matches went unfinished. However, the Chanticleers clinched the doubles point and secured three singles victories to seal the win.
Marshall enters Friday's matchup after a 2-4 loss to App State. The Thundering Herd have had a strong season overall, boasting a 13-4 record and looking to improve their conference standing. This is Marshall's second-consecutive trip to Monroe, claiming a 7-0 win over the Warhawks last season.Â
App State follows on Sunday, coming off a 4-1 victory over East Carolina. The Mountaineers hold a 3-2 record in Sun Belt play and will look to continue their three-game win streak against ULM. The last win the Warhawks had over the Mountaineers was in 2019, when ULM claimed a 4-3 win in Monroe.Â
With two home matches on the slate, ULM has the opportunity to turn its conference season around and pick up key wins in Sun Belt action.
Following the homestand, the Warhawks will hit the road, taking on Georgia State and Troy next weekend. ULM will take on the Panthers on Friday (April 4) at 1 p.m. and the Trojans on Sunday (April 6) at 10 a.m.
