Tennis Preview: UTEP, South Alabama

The Warhawks conclude home play for the season with a nonconference matchup and a Sun Belt match.

MONROE, La. – The ULM tennis team (3-12, 0-9 Sun Belt) will be returning home to take on UTEP (7-7) on Friday (April 11) at 10 a.m. and South Alabama (12-5, 5-3 Sun Belt) on Saturday (April 12) at 10 a.m. in Heard Stadium.

The Warhawks are looking to bounce back after 4-0 losses on the road to Georgia State and Troy last weekend. ULM battled in singles play, but the Panthers clinched the doubles point and secured three singles victories to seal the win. At Troy, only singles play occurred due to weather, the Trojans capturing four singles wins to clinch the match.

UTEP enters play this weekend coming off a 4-0 conference win over Sam Houston last weekend, their lone Conference-USA win of the season. The Warhawks face the Miners for the first time in a decade, the last match coming in Hattiesburg in 2015, a 4-2 Warhawk win. The Miners have not traveled to Monroe in recent years to face ULM.

South Alabama will travel to Heard Stadium on Saturday, currently on a two-match win streak over the Ragin' Cajuns and Southern Miss, defeating both teams 4-0. The Warhawks are facing the Jaguars for the first time since 2022, the first time hosting South Alabama in recent years. ULM has not defeated the Jaguars since 2017, a 4-3 win in New Orleans.

The Warhawks will hit the road after this weekend to close out the season in Hattiesburg, facing Southern Miss on Saturday (April 19) at 10 a.m.
