MONROE, La. – ULM baseball dropped the second of four games of the opening weekend series vs. Central Arkansas 12-11 Saturday afternoon. The Warhawks (1-1) tallied 11 hits on the day while the Bears (1-1) compiled 12.

UCA struck first in the top of the first with a two-run inning to quickly take control.
Bryce Blaser was able to produce in the bottom frame with a double, but the Warhawks couldn't capitalize as the score remained 2-0 after one.

With both teams coming up empty for the next two innings, the Bears added onto the lead in the top of the fourth. A six-run frame powered by a three-run homer put the away team up by eight. In the bottom half,
Sutton Lewis put ULM on the board with a three-run home run to make it 8-3 going into the fifth.

The two teams traded runs in the middle inning with
Kade Dupont striking for the Warhawks, resulting in a 9-4 score. Fireworks followed a scoreless sixth inning in the seventh. UCA added onto its lead in the top half with three runs scored. Two bases-loaded walks, along with a two-RBI single by Lewis and an RBI single by
Micah Dean, put ULM within one at the end of the seventh, with the score 12-11.

The Warhawks still trailed by one going into the bottom of the ninth after stranding three Bears in the top frame. ULM put a runner in scoring position as the tying run, but failed to send him home, resulting in the first loss of the season.

The Warhawks will play a doubleheader tomorrow to finish the series with UCA at The Lou. First pitch for game one is scheduled for Noon while game two will start approximately 30 minutes after the game of the first game.
