Pemberton Announces Staff Addition and Exhibition Schedule

ULM baseball welcomes David Case to the staff ahead of the 2027 season and fall exhibitions games.

MONROE, La. – Ford Pemberton, head coach of the ULM baseball team, has announced the addition of David Case to the coaching staff ahead of the 2027 season. Case will serve as the Director of Player Development and the Coordinator of Camps, as well as assist coach Brady Cox with the pitching staff.

"David will be a great addition to our staff and has already impacted our players positively," said head coach Ford Pemberton. "As a player, it always stood out to me the pride he took in his prep work, his nutrition and training, and his understanding of the game and desire to learn more. He is smart and a good communicator. He will be a great coach at this level, and we are fortunate to have him."

Case arrives in Monroe from the University of Memphis, where he spent the 2025 and 2026 seasons as a starting pitcher for the Tigers. He accumulated a 5.36 ERA, a 7-14 record and 122 strikeouts across 132.2 innings during his two seasons in Memphis. He recorded 11 assists in 2026 for a perfect fielding percentage.

Prior to his time in Memphis, Case spent one year playing for Grand Canyon, where all six of his appearances came in relief. He had two three-strikeout games while competing for the Lopes. Before his time in Arizona, Case posted a 1.09 ERA playing for EL Camino College. He was named the 2023 South Coast Conference Pitcher of the Year, going 6-0 through his 10 starts with 68 strikeouts in 58 innings.

Case will have an early opportunity to make an impact when the team travels for its fall exhibition games this weekend. ULM is set to face McNeese on Friday, October 9 in Lake Charles, and then head to Texas to take on Houston on Saturday, October 10.

"This weekend will be a good gauge to see where we are. I want to see an organized operation and guys competing at a high level," said Pemberton. "I'm much more worried about the process of the weekend over any result. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Justin Hill and Will Davis. McNeese and Houston will push us to have to play good baseball, and we are looking forward to that challenge."

Warhawk baseball will return to Monroe to play Pearl River on Wednesday, October 14 at Lou St. Amant Field. First pitch is at 3:30, and the game will be free and open to the public.
