Box Score 2 MONROE, La. – Three home runs hit in the second game helped ULM baseball split the day and the series against Central Arkansas on Sunday.

The Bears (2-2) got a runner on in the top of the first with a one-out double, but a strikeout by
Holden Hess and a groundout ended the threat. The Warhawks (2-2) went three up three down in the bottom frame, resulting in a scoreless tie after one. UCA again brought traffic to the base pads with a pair of base hits, but left the bases juiced with a fly-out to
Micah Dean at shortstop.

In the top of the third, a single and a double scored the first two runs of the game to put the Bears in front 2-0. ULM responded in the bottom of the fourth with a sacrifice fly from
Jackson Landry and a productive out from
Jake Griffith to score
Jake Haggard and
Sutton Lewis to tie the game.

Hess finished five innings with a scoreless top frame in the fifth. His final line of the day was 5.0 IP with seven hits allowed, two earned runs and five strikeouts.
Tyler Roark entered in the sixth and produced a three-up, three-down frame for the home team.

In the bottom half of the inning, a
Bryce Blaser walk followed by a
Jake Haggard double put two runners in scoring position before Landry produced his second RBI of the day, scoring Blaser, resulting in a 3-2 Warhawk lead after six.

With one man on base at the top of the seventh, Zach Allen blasted a homer to right field, giving UCA the late lead. Jayden Sloan followed it up with a homer of his own down the right field line, extending the Bears' lead to two runs.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Warhawks again had two runners in scoring position with Dean and Haggard at third and second.
Sutton Lewis brought home Dean on a sacrifice fly, but that was all as ULM still trailed 5-4 going into the ninth.

Zach Allen knocked his second home run of the game to put UCA up by two in the last three outs for ULM. The Warhawks put two runners on with two outs, but a pop-up in foul territory on the first base side ended the game.

In game two, Dean kicked things off for the home team with an opposite-field homer to right, putting ULM up 1-0. The Bears answered in the top of the second with an RBI single to tie things up.

In the bottom frame of the inning with two runners in scoring position,
Garrett Wiethorn lined a single into right field to bring home
Kade Dupont to retake control.
Davis Mauzy singled to shallow center field, and Wiethorn stole home to build a 4-1 lead at the end of two.

With one out at the top of the third and runners at second and third base, UCA used a groundout to bring a runner home and get back a run. The Bears again threatened in the top of the fourth with the bases loaded, but
JC Dermody struck out his seventh batter of the day to strand the runners and keep the margin at two.

UCA once again left the bases loaded as
Adam Brodnax struck out the last two batters of the top of the fifth. After the next two frames were scoreless, the Warhawks threatened with a walk and a single.
Sutton Lewis connected for his second home run of the weekend, going 399 feet to left field to put ULM up 7-2 after the sixth.

Dayne Wray powered a two-run homer in the seventh to put ULM into double digits with a 10-2 lead.
Seaver Sheets and
Sam Skarich both entered in the final two innings to end the game, giving ULM its second win of the season.

Along with the multi-RBI home run hitters, Dean also ended the game with two RBI. In total, five Warhawks had multi-hit games in the second matchup.

The Warhawks travel to Natchitoches for the first midweek of the year against Northwestern State on Tuesday, Feb. 17.
