MONROE, La. - The ULM baseball team (9-9) starts the Sun Belt Conference slate this weekend with a home series against Texas State from Friday, Mar. 13 through Sunday, Mar. 15 at The Lou. The Warhawks are coming off a series loss to UT Arlington on the road last weekend.

SERIES HISTORY VS. TEXAS STATE –
The Warhawks and Bobcats have faced off 97 times in both programs' history, with the latter owning the all-time record 58-39. Texas State swept ULM in last year's series in San Marcos and has won four straight overall. The Warhawks last were victorious in the series in 2024.

SCOUTING THE BOBCATS –
Texas State enters the weekend holding a 12-4 record overall, most recently taking a loss to No. 2 Texas at home Tuesday night. Prior to that game, they had won eight of nine matchups. Leading the team in overall hitting is
Manny Salas, who is on top statistically in batting average (.370), runs scored (15), home runs (4) and OPS (1.182).
Rashawn Galloway leads the team in total hits with 23 and in doubles with ten on the year. On the mound, the Bobcats host a trio of qualified arms that possess an ERA of under 4.00 in
Jesus Tovar (0.36),
Nolan Moore (0.53) and
Kyle Froehlich (3.66).

LAST TIME OUT –
The Warhawks dropped the weekend series against UT Arlington with losses in games one and two before salvaging the series with a victory in the third game. Game one ended in a walk off with a single in the bottom of the ninth ending ULM's late rally. Pitching problems were present in the second game as the Mavericks scored in all but two frames. Game three featured an offensive onslaught from the Warhawks with 12 runs scored and three home runs hit.
Jake Haggard collected his fourth bomb of the season in the fourth inning to give ULM the initial lead.
Garrett Wiethorn had the best game of his career so far, blasting two home runs with three overall hits and four RBI.

HOT STARTS –
The Warhawks host a pair of hitters who have made their mark in the first season at ULM.
Davis Mauzy has produced a hit in all 18 games to start the season, having multi-hit games in seven of them. He also recorded his first home run of the season, a three-run blast on Tuesday, Mar. 3 against Southeastern Louisiana. Mauzy is batting .386, has a .997 OPS and is the team leader in total hits with 27.
Danye Wray has also been a hot bat for ULM in 2026, recording a hit in all but three games. His five home runs lead the team as he possesses a .690 slugging percentage. Wray is also batting .362 and is second in RBI with 17 in the year.

FRESHMEN FOR THE FENCES –
ULM freshmen have been able to record home runs and swing for the fences across the opening 18 games. Freshman
Sutton Lewis hit two three-run homers throughout opening weekend against Central Arkansas, becoming the only freshman with multiple home runs in opening weekend in the Sun Belt
. Dayne Wray then followed that up with three home runs in the series against Western Illinois, launching one in each of the three games. The freshman from Smithville, Miss. leads the team in homers with five on the season. Most recently,
Garrett Wiethorn collected two homers in game three against UT Arlington, his first two of the 2026 season.

GRAND SLAM –
Jackson Landry hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh against Alcorn State, driving in four runs to get to a 12-0 score after seven innings. Landry's hit is his third career home run and the first grand slam of the season. Landry has tallied two home runs this season, most recently on February 28 against Western Illinois.

JC BRINGS THE JUICE –
JC Dermody has had a strong start to the 2026 season. In his four starts, he holds a record of 3-0 and possesses an ERA of 3.66, most recently pitching 6.2 innings against UT Arlington and allowing just two runs with four strikeouts in the win. Dermody arrives in Monroe after a season at Wichita State. Dermody sits at third among pitchers in the league with two wins so far this season.
