MONROE, LA. - The ULM baseball team (24-21, 10-11 Sun Belt) travels to Hattiesburg, Miss. for a Sun Belt Conference weekend series against Southern Miss from Friday, May 1, through May 3.

SERIES HISTORY VS. SOUTHERN MISS–
Friday's game marks the 76th matchup in series history, as the Golden Eagles lead with a record of 56-19. They swept last season's series in Monroe with scores of 5-8, 6-7 and 2-14 (7). The Warhawks last defeated Southern Miss in 2024 with a 5-1 win in game three in Hattiesburg.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES –
Southern Miss enters as the No. 12 team in the country and possesses a 31-14 overall record. They defeated South Alabama in last weekend's series, winning the first two games in Mobile. USM lost game three of the series along with a midweek loss to Tulane on Tuesday to mark two straight games lost. It is currently in second place in the Sun Belt standings. The Golden Eagles are led in hitting by Kyle Morrison, who has a batting average of .329 and leads in home runs with 13. Davis Gillespie is another top threat offensively with 12 homers on the season and 39 RBI. On the mound, Camden Sunstrom leads with an ERA of 2.41 in 56.0 innings pitched.

LAST TIME OUT –
The Warhawks ended their four-game home stand Tuesday night with a dominating 16-5 win in seven innings over Louisiana Tech. All 16 runs were scored in the first four innings.
Bryce Blaser and
Sutton Lewis both collected four RBI on the night while
Micah Dean crossed home plate four times. ULM had five hitters total three hits and six hitters with multi-hit games.
Seaver Sheets earned his third win of the season with two scoreless innings thrown.

HOT BATS –
The Warhawks host a group of hitters who have made their mark in their first season at ULM.
Davis Mauzy has recorded a hit in 37 of 45 games in the season, having multi-hit games in 15 of them. He also recorded a home run in Lafayette, a three-run go-ahead blast in game one against the Ragin' Cajuns. Mauzy is batting a team leading .343 average and has 58 total hits.
Garrett Wiethorn has also produced for the Warhawks in 2026. The freshman is third on the team with a .333 batting average and has collected 45 hits with 26 RBI on the season.

ARANDA ASSAULT -
Marcus Aranda has emerged as the top home run threat on the team and one of the top power hitters in the conference. He homered in six of eight games from Mar. 31 through Apr. 11 and has a team-leading 11 on the year. He is the second Warhawk since 2022 to record double-digit home runs in a season with three Sun Belt series left to play. He is also second on the team in RBI with 45 total.

FRESHMEN FOR THE FENCES –
ULM freshmen have been able to record home runs and swing for the fences across the opening 33 games. Freshman
Sutton Lewis hit two three-run homers throughout opening weekend against Central Arkansas, becoming the only freshman with multiple home runs in opening weekend in the Sun Belt.
Dayne Wray then followed that up with three home runs in the series against Western Illinois, launching one in each of the three games. He also collected two bombs in the Sun Belt opening series vs. Texas State. The freshman from Smithville, Miss. is second on the team in homers with eight on the season.
Garrett Wiethorn also joined in on the action, collecting two homers in game three against UT Arlington, his first two of the 2026 season.

NOT A BAD START –
The team's sweep over Texas State produced some historical marks for the team through the first three games. It's the first sweep over a Sun Belt opponent since the 2024 season and the first sweep over the Bobcats since 2001. The Warhawks have also started 3-0 in conference play for the first time since the 2007 season, where they started 4-0 in Sun Belt play. The team is currently tied for second in the conference standing with a 7-5 conference record.

EXTRA INNING WARFARE -
ULM and Georgia State started the series last weekend with two extra inning thrillers. The Panthers won game one at the top of the 13th, as a single and a double plated three runs, giving them the 10-7 win. The Warhawks returned the favor in game two, ending a 9-9 deadlock with a Wiethorn double into right field which scored
Jackson Landry. Both games marked the first pair of extra-inning games played for ULM in 2026.
