MONROE, La. – Isaac Grieder from the ULM track & field team and Faith Bohack from the softball program were named Warhawk Male and Female of the Week, respectively, after their standout performances over the weekend.
Grieder posted the Sun Belt Conference's top score this season in the decathlon last week at the prestigious Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. The senior racked up 7,034 which currently ranks seventh in the nation.
The Garland, Texas native earned the invitation to the event for the second consecutive year and topped his point total of 6,396 from last year. Grieder's best event this year was the pole vault where he cleared the bar at 4.80m, his best ever score in the decathlon.
Grieder is the school record holder in the heptathlon and a three-time All-Conference honoree which includes indoor and outdoor seasons. He and the Warhawks will be back in action this weekend when they compete in the SFA Carl Knight Invitational.
It marked Grieder's third career Warhawk of the Week award.
A strong week at the plate for Bohack led the Warhawks to a 4-0 week, including a series sweep over conference opponent Georgia Southern.
The junior went 6-for-13, scoring six runs and picking up four RBI on the week. Bohack flashed her speed on the bases, swiping a total of five. The shortstop flashed leather with four putouts and 11 assists in the field.
In the midweek battle with Central Arkansas, Bohack went 2-for-3, including knocking her third triple on the season. Bohack also scored two runs for the Warhawks adding one put and two assists on the defensive side of the ball.
In game one of the Georgia Southern series, Bohack went 2-for-3, scoring a run and picking up an RBI. Bohack retired two Eagles baserunners as well as having three assists. The Conroe, Texas native also had a season-high three stolen bases in the game.
In game two of the series, Bohack went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run score. Her lone hit was her fourth double on the season. The shortstop also picked up a putout and three assists.
In the series finale, Bohack went 1-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and picking up two RBI. Her hit was a seventh-inning, two-RBI solo shot, marking her team-leading fifth homer on the season.
The Warhawks travel to Baton Rouge on Tuesday, March 31 to face the top-ranked LSU Tigers in a 6:00 p.m. showdown.
