KENNESAW, Ga. -- The ULMÂ women's golf team returned to action this week at the Pinetree Women's Intercollegiate Golf Tournament at Kennesaw, Ga. The Warhawks finished fifth out of 10 teams in the tournament with 619 strokes, and Daniela Campillo earned a podium finish in a tie for third.Â
"The conditions the past few days were very difficult," said ULM women's golf head coach Rachel Pollock. "We played through rain, wind and cold. The girls fought hard, but made a few too many mistakes. We were looking forward to climbing both the team and individual leaderboard today, but due to inclement weather, the final round was cancelled. We have a couple upper classmen out with injuries right now, so this event allowed our younger players a chance to prove themselves."Â
After shooting a 76 in round one, Campillo posted the Warhawks' lowest individual round of the weekend with a 73 and accumulated 149 total strokes for a share of third place. Anna Andrysova placed in a tie for 19th after shooting a 154 for the tournament and turning in a 75 in round one for ULM's lowest scorer. Johanna Sjursen finished tied for 25th for a two-round score of 156. Completing the scoring for the Warhawks was Sonya Weerasinghe with a 160 and Sarah Knight with a 175. Sara Hagglund was the top individual finisher in the tournament with a score of 160.Â
"Daniela had another great finish inside the top 3," said Pollock. "I know she was looking to make a move to finish as medalist, but nonetheless a great week. Anna and Johanna both played consistent for us again this week."Â
The ULM women's golf team will host the ULM Invitational next week from April 1-2 at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe.Â
"I'm looking forward to hosting and competing at home next week," said Pollock.Â
