GULFPORT, Miss. -- The ULM women's golf team repeated as Great River Cup Champions and won all three matches in the match-play tournament versus Utah Valley, Arkansas State and James Madison at Windance Country Club in Gulfport, Miss.
On Monday, the Warhawks defeated Utah Valley by a score of 4-0-1 to advance to the semifinal match.
Anna Andrysova cruised to a 6&5 win in her match versus Rylie Rodriguez and sank a trio of birdies during her round.
Isabel Mas Pitarch won her match 4&3 over Mia Pace for ULM's second win and
Daniela Campillo earned a 4&3 win with three birdies in her match win over Valentina Zuleta.
Tessa Ion prevalied in her match versus Maria Ortiz 6&4 to complete the wins for the Warhawks versus Utah Valley.
Matilda Svahn tied in her match versus Chloe Jang.
ULM advanced to the championship match after besting Sun Belt foe Arkansas State 4-1 in the semifinals on Monday afternoon. Andrysova rallied back after trailing by one after 15 holes and birdied on the 16th to win her match 1up over Anne-Lea Lavoie. Mas Pitarch maintained a lead in the final six holes and won 1up over Ashley Kim. Campillo needed just 15 holes to defeat Olivia Coit in a 5&3 decision. Ion went one up on her 17th hole and defeated Caroline Hughes for ULM's fourth victory. Svahn dropped her match to Madison Tenore 3&2.
The Warhawks wrapped up the tournament championship with a 3-1-1 win over James Madison. Andrysova pulled away in her match versus JMU's Lauren Waxer-Gooding and won four holes in a row and secured a 3&2 win. Campillo again dominated in her match and won 5&3 over Bella Flores. Mas Pitarch sealed the tournament win for the Warhawks with a 1up victory over JMU's Tatum Walsh after a birdie on hole 17 to take the lead. Ion tied her match with Hannah Rabb and Svahn fell to Kayleigh Reinke 4&3.
The ULM women's golf team heads out west to the Westbrook Invitational in Peoria, Arizona. The first round of the tournament in the desert begins Sunday (Feb. 23).
