MONROE, La. – ULM women's golfer Johanna Sjursen qualified for the U.S. Open on Tuesday (May 5), after a stellar showing at the Piedmont Driving Club.
 
Sjursen qualified with a 145 (+1) across two rounds in Atlanta, Georgia, finishing first on the leaderboard as she earned medalist honors and qualified. She is joined by Jasmine Suwannapura. Five birdies were drained across 36 holes as the senior reached qualification for her first major tournament.
 
"I am so excited to represent Monroe at the U.S. Open. I'm so thankful for the experience I have gotten at ULM and being able to play for Coach Pollock has been the best thing that could have happened to me," said Sjursen. "She has truly prepared me for the next step I'm about to take in my career to turn pro. I have been doing my best the last couple weeks to focus on my process and stay present in difficult situations. Going to the U.S. Open is a dream come true. I'm so excited to test my game against the best players in the world. I will do my best and am just so thankful for the opportunity to do something special."

The U.S. Women's Open will be held at The Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. The event will run from June 4 to 7, presented by Ally Financial. Sjursen will compete with 155 other competitors in her first major championship.
