MONROE, La. – The ULM softball team (33-16) remains home, hosting Grambling State (15-23) at the ULM Softball Complex. The Warhawks will take on the Tigers on Tuesday (April 22) at 6 p.m. CT. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+ and live stats will be available at ULMWarhawks.com. ULM looks to continue defending their undefeated record at home, while Grambling State looks to bounce back from a series loss at home.
SERIES HISTORY VS. GRAMBLING –
The Warhawks will take on the Tigers for the 39th meeting, looking to continue a win streak that dates back to 2006. ULM holds a 34-3-1 all-time record against the Tigers, the series dating back to 1984, where the Warhawks won 3-0 in Monroe. The last meeting came on March 11, where ULM defeated Grambling State at Grambling, 7-0, and the Warhawks posted a triple play and a staff no-hitter.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS –
The Tigers currently post a 15-23 record, most recently going 1-2 over the weekend against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. In conference play, Grambling State last claimed a series on April 12, against Alcorn State. In nonconference play, the Tigers have notably defeated Mississippi Valley State, UMES, Fort Valley State and Tuskegee University. Kamryn Broussard leads the team in batting average, runs, home runs and RBIs, most recently collecting four runs on three hits and an RBI in the dominant 16-1 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
MIDWEEK MATCHUPS –
ULM has competed in seven midweek games so far this season, wrapping things up against Grambling State on April 22. The Warhawks hold a 5-2 record in midweek games, falling to LSU and Southeastern Louisiana on the road. Most recently, ULM claimed a 10-4 win over Northwestern State on April 2 in Monroe.
LAST TIME OUT –
The ULM softball team swept top-dog Georgia Southern at home last weekend. In the first game, the Warhawks got started early, Morgan Brown hitting an RBI single for the 1-0 lead in the first. The pitching duel held strong through the rest of the game, each pitcher holding the other team scoreless, pitcher Victoria Abrams picking up her third complete game shutout in the 1-0 win.
In the second game, Georgia Southern struck first, an RBI double and an RBI ground-out giving the Eagles the lead. After loading the bases, Hollie Thomas was hit by a pitch to tack on the first run for the 2-1 score. A two-RBI single in the fourth for the Eagles made it a 4-1 lead. Meagan Brown then hit a three-RBI double in the fourth to tie the score for the Warhawks, Thomas following with a two-RBI double to take the lead. A wild pitch in the fifth tacked on two more for the Warhawks, Brooklin Lippert then crossing home for the five-run lead. Georgia Southern hit a two-RBI double in the seventh to close the gap, but the Warhawks secured the series win, 9-6.
Georgia Southern struck first yet again in the series finale, an error scoring a run in the second. Morgan Brown hit an RBI double in the third to tie things up. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Hollie Thomas hit an RBI single to walk off the win, 2-1.
HAVING FUN AT HOME –
The Warhawks have the winningest home record in the NCAA this season, as they remain undefeated at the ULM Softball Complex, going 22-0 so far this season. ULM is one of five teams in the nation that remain undefeated at home, after going a combined 10-0 in their two hosted tournaments and sweeping three Sun Belt opponents. Most recently, the Warhawks swept Georgia Southern at home for the continued win streak.
TRIPLE PLAY –
ULM posted a triple play in the bottom of the fifth inning against Grambling State on Tuesday (March 11), their first since 2015. The Warhawks lead the NCAA with seven other teams who have tallied a triple play this season: Alcorn, Campbell, Detroit-Mercy, Elon, Houston, Jackson State and Virginia Tech. ULM has competed against three of the teams they share the honor with.
WALK IT OFF –
The Warhawks have claimed six walk-off wins so far this season, Carys Platt credited with three of them, against SEMO (March 1), Memphis (March 2) and Troy (March 30). ULM then snagged a walk-off win over Georgia State (March 15), with Meagan Brown hitting an RBI double for the win. In the weekend series against Troy, Elle Carter hit an RBI single to walk it off for the series win (March 29). Hollie Thomas joined the walk-off club on April 19, walking off the win against Georgia Southern by hitting an RBI single for the 2-1 win and the series sweep.
REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS –
In the 2025 season alone, ULM has put eight entries in the single-season Top 5 records lists, including the most runs in a single season (311), hits (435), RBIs (267) and total bases (631). 71 doubles on the season ranks second, with 35 home runs sitting at fifth.
LOOKING AHEAD –
The ULM softball team will hit the road for the final road series of the regular season. The Warhawks will take on South Alabama in Mobile starting on Friday (April 25) at 6 p.m., then on Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
