SERIES VS. NORTH TEXAS –
This is the eighth meeting between the Mean Green and the Warhawks, the third-consecutive meeting in Monroe and the first meeting since 2012. The first meeting between the two teams was in 2006, ULM's first season in the Sun Belt. The Warhawks have only faced North Texas as conference opponents, playing each season from 2006 until 2012. The Mean Green leads the series, 6-1, with the Warhawks claiming one win in 2008, 3-2.
LAST TIME OUT –
MONROE, La. – The ULM women's soccer team was credited with its second shutout win of the season, a 3-0 score marking the third-straight win over Southern in the series. Three Warhawks scored goals, with three more tallying assists. Goalkeeper Maddox Dolly also claimed her first career clean sheet and start in the contest.
ULM maintained possession early in the contest, with captain Skylar Blaise starting the scoring off early. In the ninth minute, she scored her fourth goal of the season, getting the assist from Vienna Tokam. While the Jaguars fought for possession, ULM was dominant, a corner kick finally landing their second score of the day. Libby Holmes notched her second goal of the season, with Ines de Lope Casanova gaining her first assist and point as a Warhawk.
The second half brought the Jaguars fighting to stay in it, finally picking up a shot in the second half. ULM, on the other hand, went searching for its third goal of the night. The 77th minute, however, extended the lead for the Warhawks, as Ava Goodman knocked a goal back after a free kick came in ULM's favor. The goal was assisted by Beth Strutton, her second assist of the season.
Senior Goodman led the pack with five shots for ULM, two being on target. Blaise was not far behind with three shots. Blaise continues to lead the team with eight points, fellow captains Holmes and Strutton not far behind with six following the conclusion of the match.
