The Warhawks look to continue a five-game win streak after going 5-0 in the Best on the Bayou Tournament.

GRAMBLING, La. – The ULM softball team (7-4) hits the road to face another local foe in Grambling State (6-7). First pitch against the Tigers is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Wednesday (Feb. 25). Streaming will not be available, but live stats can be found at ulmwarhawks.com/stats. The Warhawks look to continue a five-game win streak after going undefeated in the Best on the Bayou Tournament.

BEST ON THE BAYOU –

After defeating Lamar, UNI and Arkansas-Pine Bluff over the weekend, ULM holds a 132-63-2 record in tournaments they host, on a current 19-game win streak in hosted tournaments that dates back to 2024. The Warhawks went a perfect 5-0 this weekend to remain undefeated at home as well.

SERIES HISTORY VS. GRAMBLING –

The Warhawks will take on the Tigers for the third-straight year and 38th meeting, looking to extend a 22-win streak against Grambling. The streak dates back to 2004, the Warhawks also looking good at 7-2-1 when playing at Grambling. Last season, the Warhawks won in a 7-0 shutout at Grambling, pitchers Victoria Abrams and Dakota Lake combining for a no-hitter.

SCOUTING THE TIGERS –

The Tigers sit at 6-7, defeating Alabama A&M, SEMO, Alabama State, South Carolina State and Mississippi Valley State. Kamryn Broussard leads the team with a .457 batting average, picking up 16 hits–six being doubles. Katelynn Walls leads with nine stolen bases so far this season. Jaidan Richard posts an 5.25 ERA in the circle, in 29.1 innings pitched. The Tigers look for success under first-year head coach D'Maria Matthews.

THREE IN ONE –

In the sixth inning against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday, three home runs were hit in a single inning. Maryssa Zenzen hit an in-the-park homer, before Morgan Brown and Dally Engle followed it up with solo homers. The Warhawks remain as one of two mid-major programs to hit three or more home runs in a single inning.

LAST TIME OUT –

The ULM softball team went 5-0 on the weekend, hosting the Best on the Bayou Tournament and defeating UNI, Lamar and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. In a 2-1 victory over the Panthers on February 20, Carys Platt hit an RBI single and Hollie Thomas set up a fielder's choice to score a run, overcoming the 1-0 deficit set by UNI in the second inning as Maddie Nichols struck out 11 batters. Against Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday, it was all Warhawks, as a sacrifice fly and three home runs set up a 5-0 score. An RBI single from Ashanti McDade secured the 6-0 win, Skylar Waggoner striking out 13 batters and pitching a complete game shutout.

RBI singles from Meagan Brown, Hollie Thomas and Cheyenne Jenkins had the Warhawks jumping to a 6-1 lead against Lamar on Saturday. Zenzen and Brown also posted RBI doubles, Kennan Nunamaker hitting a two-RBI double to walk off the six-inning win, 12-4. A similar score came on Sunday, Zenzen doubling and Thomas hitting a homer to lead the team to a 7-3 win. A second shutout over the Lions was set up through Nichols' four strikeouts and multiple Warhawks picking up RBIs in Thomas, Zenzen, Morgan Brown, Cecilia Gonzales and Olivia Faggard for the 8-0 score in five innings.

TWICE AS NICE –

Twins Meagan Brown and Morgan Brown boast similar numbers and continue to find success on the field together. They are one of 10 sets of twins playing on the same NCAA softball team. Last season, the girls hit back-to-back home runs twice. Both sisters were also named to the All-Sun Belt First Team and Preseason All-Sun Belt team.

HOMETOWN HEROES –

The Warhawks also have three hometown players on the 2026 roster, with West Monroe's Maddie Nichols, Monroe's Elle Carter and Abagail Creighton on the roster this season. Nichols went to West Monroe High School, where she was a four-year letterwinner before graduating as valedictorian in 2022. Carter hails from Neville High School, a four-year letterwinner in soccer and softball, the eighth member of her family to attend ULM. Creighton, a freshman, rounds out the Monroe natives as she arrives after six seasons at St. Frederick High School.

LOOKING AHEAD –

The ULM softball team will next prepare for another weekend tournament, this time facing an SEC foe in Ole Miss. In the Ole Miss Classic, the Warhawks will take on the Rebels and Jacksonville State from Friday (Feb. 27) to Sunday (March 1).
