MONROE, La. – Six errors on the day gave way to a 10-2 loss for ULM baseball (23-21, 10-11 Sun Belt) against James Madison (18-24, 8-13 Sun Belt) Sunday afternoon.
Â
It's the second time this season that a Sun Belt team has made six or more errors. The other was six errors made by Marshall in a 12-4 loss on Mar. 28, against Coastal Carolina.
Â
A groundout started the top of the first before a walk and a double to the right field side put two runners in scoring position for the Dukes. After the bases were loaded with a hit-by-pitch, a sacrifice fly into right field scored the runner from third base to give the away team a 1-0 lead. The damage was limited as a fielder's choice left the bases loaded.
Â
JMU plated another run with a fly out to right field, which followed a throwing error and a hit by pitch, making the score 2-0.
Kade Dupont singled up the middle to get the first hit for the Warhawks, but he couldn't get home as a flyout ended the inning. Wyatt Campbell homered for the second time in the series, extending the Dukes' lead to three runs.
Â
Both teams went scoreless in the fourth as JMU left the bases loaded and ULM stranded a runner at third. At the top of the fifth, Jack Cannizzaro belted a 437-foot two-run homer to left, making it a 5-0 game. Another RBI single by the Dukes extended the lead to six runs going into the bottom frame.
Dayne Wray led off the inning with a triple to left center, which was followed by a fielder's choice, scoring the runner from third and putting ULM on the board.
Â
In the bottom of the seventh,
Davis Mauzy singled up the middle to score a run, resulting in a 6-2 ballgame. The Dukes broke through at the top of the ninth, scoring four runs to reach double digits on the day. The Warhawks were shut out the rest of the way en route to a 10-2 final.

ULM is back at Lou St. Amant Field Tuesday night with a midweek game vs. Louisiana Tech.
