MONROE, La. – Big team performances and clutch individual numbers earned Dalton Todd from ULM baseball and Adriunna Brown from track & field Warhawk Male and Female of the Week, respectively, announced Tuesday.
Todd came alive offensively as he batted .714 last week and posted an OPS of 1.524 (.857 Slugging Percentage; .667 On-Base Percentage). The junior opened the week with three successful plate appearances at Louisiana Tech. In the third inning, he laid down a sacrifice bunt that led to the first run of the game for ULM and then in the fifth he delivered a sacrifice fly to put ULM ahead 2-0. In his final plate appearance of the evening (seventh inning), Todd drew a walk.
In Saturday's doubleheader against UT Arlington, the Olive Branch, Miss., native tallied five hits (one double) with three runs scored. In ULM's 2-1 walk-off win over the Mavericks in game one, Todd tallied two hits in three at-bats as the Warhawks evened the series at one game apiece.
In the series finale, Todd tallied career-highs in both hits (three) and runs scored (three) as he helped the Warhawks rally from an early 5-0 deficit to pick up a 7-5 win and earn the series win over the visiting Mavericks.
Brown had a huge outing both on the track and the field as she garnered a gold and silver medal at the SFA Carl Kight Invitational over the weekend in Nacogdoches, Texas.
The Macon, Ga., product started it off with a first-place leap of 5.95m in the long jump, a season-best. The sophomore followed it up with a personal-record 1:02.63 to take second-place in the 400m hurdles. Brown single-handedly totaled 18 points for the Warhawks between the two events.
With those bests, Brown now ranks third in the conference in both events. She ranks 42nd in the nation in the long jump and 22nd in the NCAA East Region.
