MONROE, La. – In a rare case, Warhawk of the Week awards were earned for low offensive scores as Calum Hill from men's golf took the honors on the men's side and goalkeeper Katherine Werther from soccer on the women's.
Hill demonstrated his consistency with another dominant performance at the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate. He finished four strokes under par to place sixth on the individual leaderboard.
The sophomore from Edinburgh, Scotland shot a 70 (-2) in the first 18 holes, followed by a pair of 71 (-1) rounds. Hill appears to be locked and loaded this season after concluding his third top-10 finish in four events this season.
The men's golf program is scheduled to complete the fall portion of its schedule on Oct. 27-28 at the Quail Valley Invitational in Vero Beach, Fla.
Werther, who also won Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week, tallied career-highs in saves with 12 against Texas State and 11 against Appalachian State. She helped preserve a 2-1 victory over the Bobcats after making a few key saves near the end of the contest.
The sophomore's 23 saves boosted her league-leading total on the season to 86 (6.14 s/g). On the year, she's earned seven wins, four shutouts and has logged 1170 minutes in net.
Werther will play in front of her home crowd in Lafayette, La., on Sunday as the Warhawks take on the Ragin' Cagins at 1:00 p.m. in a must-win situation.
