MONROE, La. – Each earning their second Warhawk of the Week nod of the 2014 campaign, Justin Manton from football won on the men's side while Ines Fendt took the honors for the women.
Manton, a senior, tied a career-high with three made field goals in Saturday's tilt against Texas State. Manton hit field goals of 28 yards, 43 yards and a career-long 51-yarder. Manton's 51-yarder was a career-long and it is the longest field goal made in the Sun Belt Conference this season. The 51-yard field goal is also the longest made field goal by the Warhawks in the Sun Belt era (2001-pres.).
Saturday also marked the first time in his career that Manton connected on two field goals of 40-plus yards in the same contest. Manton is also the first kicker in Sun Belt history to connect on two field goals of 40 or more yards in a single contest.
Manton's three made field goals tied the career-high he set against Troy on Sept. 27, 2014 in the 22-20 win over the Trojans. The Prairieville, La., native finished with 10 points against Texas State and he now has 210 career points and is chasing Rob Tallent who ranks second in school history in scoring with 232 points.
Manton and the Warhawks will hit the road this weekend for their third all-time meeting against Texas A&M. Kick-off in College Station, Texas is set for 11 a.m. and will air on the SEC Network.
Fendt continued to put up career-best performances for the Warhawks. The senior's strong performance on the links secured ULM's second top-five finish during the fall season at UAB Fall Beach Blast.
The St. Poelten, Austria native carried a 2-over par (71-75—146) during the 36-hole event. Her round one score of 1-under par was her first under par tournament score in her career as a Warhawk.
Fendt finished the tournament tied for fourth place, marking her fourth-straight top-10 finish and her second top-five over the fall season.
