Golf Sweeps Warhawk of the Week Awards

MONROE, La. – Outstanding play at Sun Belt Conference Championships earned Mason Seaborn from ULM men's golf and Ines Fendt from ULM women's golf Warhawk Male and Female of the Week honors, respectively.

Seaborn, a senior, saved his best performance for last, shooting an impressive three strokes under par to soar 10 spots on the individual leaderboard and finish tied for fifth at the Sun Belt Championship.

In his final outing in a Warhawk uniform, the Alabama native posted the second lowest round of the tournament to card an even-213, lifting the Warhawks to a third place showing in Miramar Beach, Fla.

"I am happy that Mason ended his career with a birdie on the final hole for a great round of 68 (-3)," head coach Walt Williams said after the lefty's performance.

Seaborn wraps up an illustrious career, which includes 14 top-10 finishes, a spot on the Sun Belt All-Conference Second Team and recognition as a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar.

He set a Warhawk record for the lowest round in a tournament, 64 (-8), and owns the third lowest season average in program history, 73.06. Seaborn won his third Warhawk of the Week award in his career.

On the women's side, Fendt brought her career-season to a close with a phenomenal performance at the Sun Belt Championship.

Despite having to battle weather conditions through the first two days of competition, Fendt recorded a 1-under par, 71 in the first round to sit in a tie on top of the standings.

The under-par first round was just the second time in her career that Fendt has carded an under-par score with both rounds coming her senior season.

The Austrian native shot even in the final round to bring her 36-hole total to 1-under par, 143 with five birdies on the tournament to claim second place.

Fendt recorded her first under-par tournament of her career and the outright ownership of second place marked her best career finish.

The senior's second-place finish also marked the best individual finish at the Sun Belt Conference Women's Championship for the Warhawks. The previous top finish was a tie for fifth place set in 2-13 by Alison Knowles.

It marked Fendt's fourth career Warhawk of the Week accolade and second this season.
