MONROE, La. – Junior Tylor Ongwae from the ULM men's basketball program earned Warhawk Male of the Week and sophomore Alison Knowles from the ULM women's golf team was named Warhawk Female of the Week, announced Wednesday.
Over the weekend, Ongwae led the Warhawks in scoring with 14 points at Arkansas State on Thursday and 15 points versus UALR on Saturday. He averaged 6.5 rebounds per contest and went 9-for-18 from the field combined.
His efforts helped the Warhawks secure a No. 7 seed in the SBC Championships and the second winningest season in school history since joining the league in 2006-07.
Ongwae also picked up a pair of postseason awards as he was named to the Sun Belt Conference Third-Team and the College Sports Madness SBC Fourth-Team. He also becomes the first five-time Warhawk of the Week winner.
Knowles finished in second place at the 2014 Lady Eagle Invitational. She moved up two spots on the final day. She shot a 72 on day-one and a 73 on day-two.
The Mexborough, England product is the reigning Sun Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Month winner. She has four first-place finishes in individual competition and currently leads all Sun Belt golfers in scoring average.
Knowles and the Warhawks will be back at it next weekend when they play in the LSU Golf Classic on Friday, March 21 – Sunday, March 23.
