Tidwell, Cacioppo Earn Warhawk of the Week Accolades

Softball

MONROE, La. – After impressive displays at the plate, Kodie Tidwell from the ULM baseball program and Alexis Cacioppo from the softball team earned Warhawk Male and Female of the Week awards, respectively, announced Tuesday.

It marked the third weekly award for Tidwell as he also won Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week and Louisiana Hitter of the Week. He led the Warhawks to a 3-2 week including a key series victory over Texas State of the weekend.

On the week, the Calhoun, La., native, batted .550 (11-for-20) with six RBI and four runs. He also earned four free passes on the week (three walks, one hit-by-pitch) and posted a 1.275 OPS (.650 Slugging %, .625 On-Base %).

The sophomore opened the week with two hits, one walk and one run against Northwestern State on Tuesday. One night later, against FIU, Tidwell accounted for three hits (one double) with three RBI, two runs and one walk as the Warhawks tallied 12 runs (10 earned) against the nation's top pitching staff (FIU entered with a 1.63 team ERA).

In the SBC opener against Texas State, Tidwell drove in a pair of runs on one hit and he followed with a career-high four hits in the 17-12 win over the Bobcats on Saturday night. In the weekend finale, Tidwell had one hit (double) and scored what proved to be the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning on a two-RBI single by Justin Stawychny.

Cacioppo came up huge at the dish for the Warhawks with a pair of homers against WKU. Her three-run blast on Sunday ended the game in walk-off fashion as ULM was down to its last out. The Warhawks trailed 3-1 when Cacioppo came up and launched the game winner, 4-3.

It was the second time Cacioppo took WKU's Emily Rousseau deep as she also hit a solo shot in game one of the series. It was the first of her three hits off the right-hander.

The La Habra, Calif., native also drew three walks in the series and notched a .545 on-base percentage. It marked the second time this season she won Warhawk of the Week as she also took the honors on Feb. 18.

Cacioppo and the Warhawks will look to win another tonight when they travel to Central Arkansas for a non-conference game. ULM will return to SBC play over the weekend when it travels to UT Arlington for a three-game tilt.
